Annual Louise Stewart Writing Contest
Deadline: the April meeting, April 2, 2009
The Louise Stewart Contest accepts an original essay, memoir,
article, or poem on a specified topic that changes each year.
The
2009 Topic is Write a character sketch of one of
your grandparents or other relative .

CONTEST RULES
- Entrants must be current dues-paying guild members or
join at the time their entry is submitted.
- Each writer may
submit only one entry.
- Entries should not have been submitted
previously to the guild's contest, nor published anywhere.
The entry can be submitted to other contests or be submitted
for publication at the time of entry.
- Entry fee is $5. Fees
are payable by check or money order and made payable to the
San Antonio Writers Guild or with cash when brought in person
to the meeting.
- Entries may be submitted to the contest coordinator
in person at the April guild meeting or mailed to the guild's
post office box address. Mail entries must be postmarked
no later than Thursday, April 2, 2009.
- No late entries will
be accepted.
- Awards will be announced at the June meeting.
- There
are no separate categories for essays, memoirs, articles, or
poems. All will be judged in the same category.
- Word limit
is 1,000 words.
